Corrections/Updates & An Urgent Prayer Request

There are a few points of confusion from my last post so I just wanted to clarify.

While our original two year contract with Samaritan’s Purse has ended we will remain in Kenya for a few more months.  As I mentioned, SP has allowed us to extend our contract be several weeks and we will then remain here as volunteers until June.  This means we will have to purchase a different insurance since we will no longer be SP employees.  It also means we will not receive the stipend that covers food, rent, utilities, etc.

We have been asked by several people how they can change their financial support during our time of transition.  For now, there is no need to do so.  Samaritan’s Purse is allowing us to maintain our ministry account with them so we will still have access to funds given through them.  As we transition to World Gospel Mission that will change and we will be sure to update everyone on when and how to do that.

Reading over my last post I wanted to clarify the prayer request about our house so it isn’t interpreted incorrectly.  Our current renters are our friends and have taken great care of our place.  The reason we lose money is because of tax increases, the inability to refinance (leaving us with a painfully large interest rate), and the fact that we didn’t originally plan to stay past January.  (This is why we hope to sell very quickly on our return.)  I just wanted to make sure no one thought it was due to any other reasons.

I hope this helps to clarify a few things.  Thank you for the many responses we have received about job offers, prayers, etc.  We are very blessed to have so many people willing to help us!

We also have an urgent prayer request for a friend.  His daughter Tori has been having vomiting which has not been controlled with medications.  They just had a head CT done which showed some “abnormalities”.  It is unclear exactly what they saw.  At this point they have to wait until Tuesday to see a neurologist, have an MRI, and receive more answers.  Obviously this hits awfully close to home for us.  Please join us in praying for this dear family!  (Her parents names are Brennan and Lesa. Here is a link to their blog.)

To leave for uncertainity or to start another adventure is really a big deal, especially when you have to leave those whom you’ve cherished. Your own life and family at large had prove an inspiration to many and is so blessing to follow your blog. Tenwek family will miss you alot and we all will miss you. You’re loved and blessed by God for your dedication to serve Him in service to your fellow humans. When I come home for the end of the semester holiday in April, I will visit you in Tenwek if you don’t mind, atleast to bid you goodbye. (my home is Kiromwok, Bomet but I’m studying for undergraduate degree at Egerton University in Nakuru.)
